BASIC SKILLS CLASSES
BASIC KNITTING I: GETTING STARTED. Designed for the total beginner, you will learn to cast-on, knit, purl, and bind-off. That is as basic as it gets. After this you can handle any number of easy patterns.

BASIC KNITTING II: THE NEXT STEP. Ready to move beyond the scarf? This class introduces basic shaping, fixing mistakes, and improving your tension. We explore reading patterns, the importance of gauge, and picking appropriate yarns for projects.
Class Fee: $20. Wed Sept 29, or Sat Nov 20 (9-12)
BASIC KNITTING III: FINISHING. Learn the basics of blocking, seaming, picking up stitches, and buttonholes. Good finishing skills make all the difference in the final look of your knitting.
Class Fee: $20. Tue Nov 16 (9-12)
INTRODUCTION TO LACE KNITTING: Although visually complex, lace is made up of simple eyelets and decreases. Once mastered, they can be arranged into countless patterns. This class introduces the basics of lace work.
Class Fee: $20. Thu Oct 21 (9-12)
KNITTING FROM CHARTS: Charts may seem intimidating at first but they are actually clearer to work from than written patterns. In this class you will learn the basics of reading charts as well as how to create your own charts when they are not provided. This is especially useful when knitting lace, cable, or color-work patterns.

CONTINENTAL KNITTING: This free workshop introduces the technique of Continental Knitting (holding the yarn in your left hand) to knitters who currently work in the English style. Noted for its speed and ease of execution, many knitters find it less stressful on their hands.
Class Fee: FREE. Mon Dec 6 (9-12)
ENTRELAC KNITTING: Although entrelac has the appearance of woven strips, it is actually tilted blocks knit in rows. This class will introduce the six basic components of the technique. Knitting “backwards” can speed things up by eliminating the constant need to turn the work.
